BGGS students all have access to Firefly, the school's Virtual Learning Environment, where tasks are often set for completion and can be handed in and marked electronically.  Students are taught how to use this facility, but for reference purposes there is a "How To" document here.

FIREFLY HELP PAGE FOR STUDENTS

All students have access to FireFly and usually there is no issue with carrying out tasks.  However, this page is designed to offer students help if they cannot remember how to use some of the features in FireFly or wish to try some of the more advanced options available.

ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (ONLINE LEARNING)

Online learning (sometimes called 'remote learning' or 'learning from home') brings its own set of challenges. Most of our students make the transition from face to face learning to remote learning without any problems at all.

Just occasionally, a small number of students experience a few problems getting used to learning online/remotely. So we have put an additional agreement together which highlights our expectations and acts as a reminder:

This information is intended to provide guidance to students, parents and carers about what to expect from remote education when local restrictions require individuals or groups of students (or bubbles) to remain at home and be taught remotely.

The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home

We have made preparations for actions to prepare for periods of remote teaching whether these be short or longer periods. However, a pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach.

What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?

Following the first few days of remote education, your child will be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school. Some concepts may be taught slightly differently or using different activities.

• All students have access to Firefly which is the school’s virtual learning environment.
• Students are set work using this platform and should check for updates regularly.
• In the event that they are required to remain at home, tasks and resources are likely to be made available through Firefly as soon as possible.
