Literacy & Reading for Pleasure

Students are encouraged to carry a book with them to read for pleasure in any odd moments when they do not have other tasks to complete, (or in their own time). 

Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form regards reading for pleasure as being so important that a student's "reading book" is counted as much a part of her required equipment as her student planner, exercise books, pencil case etc. 

Ideally students would bring the book(s) they are reading at home but if that is not practicable, BGGS has a well stocked library, together with book boxes in every form room.

Below are some links to book recommendations which students may want to sample, although obviously each individual should choose a book which she wants to read, balancing the level of challenge with her enjoyment of reading.
